Big picture: political integration is a multidimensional process and understanding the predictors of integration is difficult. Mexican immigration to the us was really taking off. Always questions about political integration into us politics. The process by which new members of society accept prevailing beliefs, norms, and attitudes. A process of socializing new members so they become informed participants and positively attached to the political system. A process whereby an individual becomes a participant in various phases of the political process. Immigrants are in a unique place when it comes to national identity. With multiple identities there is always the possibility for conflict. But it"s possible the us political system allows for more compromise. Participation and integration may allow mexican immigrants to simultaneously hold both identities. Political integration has lots of dimensions: assimilation, naturalization, political organizational involvement, political attitudes, partisan involvement, electoral activities, ideologies. Positive factors: family in mexico and preferring association with other mexicans.
