KIN 3309 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Tensor Fasciae Latae Muscle, Rectus Femoris Muscle, Biceps Femoris Muscle
Document Summary
Pelvic/hip complex: lower limbs connected to each other and to the trunk via the pelvic girdle, act as attachment sites for limbs. Pelvic girdle: bony attachment of the lower extremity. Movements: concomitant movement of the pelvic girdle and thigh are necessary for efficient joint movement, they are described by monitoring the ilium/sacrum, types. Anterior forward tilt and downward movement. Posterior backward tilt during hip flexion. Dropping one side from the neutral position (ie. shakira) Hip joint: ball and socket, 3 degrees of rotation, 70% bone to bone articulation. Femoral neck (anatomical: formed by cancellous trabecular bone and reinforced with cortical bone, angle of inclination 90-135 . Varus - 90 angle from the femur head to acetabulum. Reduces the load on the head, increases load on the femoral neck. Valgus larger than 135 from the femur head to the acetabulum. Increases load on the head, decreases load on the femoral neck.
