Chapter 1: the science of the mind (lecture notes) Wilhelm wundt is often regarded as the father of experimental psychology . Usually, introspective data cannot be used to evaluate a hypothesis. Hypothesis requires data we can rely on and is not dependent on a particular point of view. The use of chunking numbers like 82 and 57 can help with remembering. Central executive delegates tasks and resources to sub vocal speech. Mechanisms used for overt speech are in use when vocally saying phrases such as tah-tah- tah while making it difficult to repeat something in your head. Cons: lack of honesty, unable to interpret others thoughts. Cons: the same stimuli do not always illicit the same responses. Cognitive psychology taking what we can observe and then work backwards from there observations.
