Introduction: the mini-project can be performed individually or by a group. The same group can continue to work on the full-scale term project: the instructor will suggest study topics for students to work on. Students can opt to choose their own topics for mini-projects; for example, the discussion questions from the textbook or reading materials: student researchers need to generate their own research ideas for the full-scale term project. Some hints for research directions are provided in the appendix: the mini-project is of free form. The guidelines can be applied to conduct mini-project research. The company can operate in one of the following industries*: chemical, petroleum, energy, construction, electronics, aerospace, transportation, textile, grocery, food. *feel free to choose your preferred industry which is not listed above.
