First radio station on the air was kdka in pittsburg. Legal station id call letters and market that is served. 1860"s james maxwell predicted the existence of electromagnetic radio waves. Testing and inventing that are going on england and us really pushing in between this time. 1880"s heinrich hertz proved maxwell"s theories correct (done through inventions and demonstrations)
