Please discuss the different skull types: brachycephalic, mesaticephalic, and dolichocephalic. Make sure you give a brief definition for each, list the advantages and disadvantages of that skull type, and make sure to discuss its effect on tooth placement and the animal"s visual field. Animals with a dolichocephalic skull have the lowest numbers on the cephalic index. These animals have evolved to usually be very fast and have a very wide visual field, but sacrifice from depth perception and jaw power. Mesaticephalic animals have a moderate head type that is a squarer shape. These animals have a moderate visual field and they are good at carrying things in their jaws. Their jaws are shorter than dolichocephalic animals, yet they are also stronger. These shorter jaws are still longer than brachycephalic animals" jaws, though. This length helps to enable specifically dogs to have enough room in their jaws to easily carry something.
