Journalists are bearer of bad news and so people tend to not like them. Trying to say what really went on in the last day, not what they"re telling you or what you expect to happen. Trying to get it right and people accept that. Wrote about watergate scandal (or supervised the writers). There was an anonomyous tip that made that happen. If there is a high official telling you that shit is happening ****at the highest level you have to listen**** and you have to play by their rules until they talk because they might not talk otherwise. If people say off the record if you ask why people will sometimes let you. Reporters get abused just like everyone else does. Important to keep your word (ex: anoniminity) you need to keep it. Otherwise nobody will talk to you (unless legally obligated to, but you still do not have to say it)
