Emotions are culturally determined: some behaviors are appropriate in one culture and not in another. Emotions are socially determinedwe get emotional signals from the people around us. We send messages in their environment through facial expressions and tone of voice. Emotion is for problem solving and critical thinking. Socioemotional learning is for regulating emotions that helps us achieve goals and get along with peers. Cognitive-tune out distractions, switch tasks, remember tasks, Socioemotional skills are behaviors that are conscious or unconscious that change/inhibit/enhance to accomplish goals in society. Education is important for children that have been traumatized. Children that have been exposed to violence, they experience toxic stress. Toxic stress can lead to changes in the brain structure and function and can intrupt normal function of a child. Immediate effects are a decrease in a child"s physical and mental well-being,
