1100 shona settled in great zimbabwe. 1821 mzilikazi found ndebele kingdom in zimbabwe; started raiding for cows and shit. 1836 conflict between afrikaaners and ndebele. 1870 mzilikazi dies, lobengula becomes leader of ndebele. Rudd concession: 1881 lobengula was tricked in signing rudd concession, concession gave agricultural rights. Pioneer colum: 1890 group of soldiers and men settled initial settlement of zimbabwe. First chimurenga (chimurenga rebellion/revolt: lead by mbuya nehanda and sekura kaguvi. 1922 british south african company rule ends. Land apportionment act: 1930 restricts african access to land, separates land by race. Promotion of white emigration to south rhodesia. 1950s and 1960s federation of rhodesia (zimbabwe and zambia) and nyasaland (malwai: people could travel with freedom, movement of people looking for jobs/race, 70s, 80s, 90s people have worked on farmland for generations. 1960s african nationalism on the rise: 1961 zapu established, zepa army wing of zapu.
