The ideal of young feminine beauty was called gibson. 1890-1900 fashionable dresses with leg o mutton sleeves. Edwardian: a high, boned collar, sleeves puffed, softly gathered to wristband, bishop sleeves, narrow waist, full bosomed cut called pigeon bust, emphasis on s shaped silhouette. Undergarmets: chemise and drawers or combination, corset, maybe with garterbelt, camisole/corset cover, petticoat. Drawers/knickers: not a lot of changes, still very frilly and embellished, lace ruffles, colored ribbons still very popular trim edging. Chemise/combination: some women still wear chemise under corset, chemise will be worn over corset with camisole underneath, knitted combination reminiscent of union suit. Corset: much longer, stop under the bust, fitted through the hips, garters attached or not. Monobosom corset: soft structure corset created for the sole purpose of supporting the pigeon bust shape.
