Document Summary

At some point in our lives, we will all be asked to present a commemorative speech. It might be a toast at a wedding, or at a birthday party. It might be at a dinner honoring a colleague; it might be at a roast. You may find yourself delivering a eulogy at a funeral for a friend or loved one. Alternatively, you may find yourself delivering a speech commemorating an event or a place or an organization. In any case, the goals of a commemorative speech are as follows: To heighten the group"s admiration for the person/place/event/organization being praised. To uplift the group"s feelings and emotion. To celebrate even in the case of a solemn occasion the positive qualities of the person/place/event/organization being praised. Please write a commemorative speech, about a person/place/event that is meaningful to you. Your speech must include examples of at least five of the ten techniques for vivid language discussed in class.
