The united states has gone through periods of high and low tolerance of bilingual education programs throughout the history of the nation. The events of the history of this country have been key factors in determining the policies and legislation surrounding bilingual education. Education act of 1968 was passed during the era of growing immigration and civil rights movement. This act mandated that schools must provide bilingual education programs. Although the bilingual education act of 1968 had established few decades ago, there is a large group of people who are against bilingual education in current days.
