Meeting place of two or more bones. Joints are really good at stability or mobility. Sutures (from point of function, they are synarthrosis like the bones of the skull. ) Syndesmosis (joined by connective tissue, like between the tibia and fibula at the ankle) Gomphosis (binds teeth to a bony socket, like the teeth in our mouth) Synchondrosis (almost immovable joint bound by a layer of cartilage, like the vertebrae) Symphysis (two bones that are closely joined by an immovable joint like the pubic bones at the center of the pubis, or completely fused like sternum between the manubrium and body) They provide a very good range of motion and are diarthrotic joints from point of function.
