Document Summary

Also circulates nutrients and chemical waste from the blood. What are the three layers of the embryonic gastrula, and which one does the nervous system develop from? ectodermal, mesodermal, endodermal develops from ectoderm. The neural plate forms into the neural tube- the folding process of tubes to close. The tube later forms into the spinal chord and the brain (cns) The cns neural tube expands and folds during the development. Cells divide to and/or daughter cells. ( all of this happens in the ventricular zone) After proliferation and migration, a neuron reaches its new home. What changes occur that result in its differentiation/specialization? after the cells split and migrate to cortical areas in a orderly manner they take on individual characteristics; morphology, neurotransmitter, post-synaptic receptors etc. New neurons cannot develop after development, they are the only cells in the body that cannot. Unused neurons prune away and neurons that are left can form new connections and specialize.
