Higher rates of suicide in europe, with older people. In japan it means preserving one"s honor or accepting responsibility. Schizo- found in cultures all over the world. East asia: rely more on implicit social support. *cultural competence: recognizing your own cultural influences and understanding the client"s background. But universal pathologies don"t always present at the same rates or with the same symptoms in different places: western tend to be more psychological. *people conceive of the causes of mental illnesses in different ways.
