Morphine can be injected and is easy to measure. Morphine is more potent; goes through the body and straight to the brain. Same patterns as the other drugs; started out as medicine then took on a recreational use. Associated more with women than with men. Women used morphine to help with cramps, pregnancies and other health issues. Seen as a drug since people became addicted to it. Disease of the will ;something wrong with the willpower of the people who used morphine. Heredity was thought to be the idea behind why people became addicted to morphine. Morphine was expensive so it was associated with wealthy people. Locking people in rooms for days was how people thought to cure a morphine addict. Others thought in order to cure a morphine addict that they should give them other drugs. Others thought that hypnotizing people was a cure. Addicts were usually white, american, women with money.
