Domestic policies vs. international policies: use of force. We have a police force in the us. There are no international police officers: sense of community. Conflict only reaches an absolute resolution when a state dies. This doesn"t happen frequently, so you have conflicts continue for centuries. If you care about the whole earth, you care about the policies of states: hazardous to your health. Does the us have less reason to care: geography. The last war actually fought in america was quite a while ago. We only have two states bordering us, as opposed to. The us was founded by a lot of people who wanted to get away from europe (for various reasons). Isolation is somewhat bred into our political culture: as a result, it"s actually fairly difficult to get the us into a war. We usually want moral justification for our war. We won"t even know what needs to be explained if we don"t observe first: explanation.
