Gang violence is strongly related to drug-related issues and inter gang con ict. Ethnic and racial groups related to gang formation. Youth gangs emerged along the east coast after the american revolution. 19th century gangs members were often of working class or poor families of. European ancestry: italian, irish, german, welsh, etc. 21st century latino and black youth gangs receive the most public attention. Gangs represent nearly ever racial/ethnic group, along with gangs that are mixed in terms of ethnic and racial composition.
