Why is hiv more deadly for humans than chimps. Is it a surprise that hiv is deadlier for us than for chimps. All the chimps who weren"t immune died and the ones surviving are immune/have a tolerance. Example- bats carrying ebola but not dying. Happened many times before, but now population density is way higher and it can be transmitted far better. 2003 success story- the syndrome caused by the virus is terrible, virus goes to your lungs and you suffocate, unless supportive therapy lets you last until your immune system kill the virus. If the outbreak isn"t contained early then it"s terrible because it transmits so easily. Similar disease in saudi arabia caused by camels (airborne) with similar symptoms. First known in 1947 in uganda in a monkey. First human infections in uganda and tanzania in 52, and in 68. First case in americas 2014 south america.
