People see humans as the center of the universe. Other cultures do not share this view. They see people as part of nature. Scientific proof, the ability to think, etc. Humans believe our inner experience is proof of reality. If people"s experience of reality is different than ours, we believe they are abnormal. How many mentally ill people are diagnosed. Painting style represented life in an alternate way. Ex: we don"t see pictures as the real person, but just a picture of a person. All cultures have a way of telling time. Azande: can tell time by beer brewing pattern, which determined how close it was until feast. We believe time is a line stretching between the past and the future. Not every group has a linear concept of time. Imbedded in our culture from very early on. Orients us from looking at time correctly . Trobriand islanders saw time as a puddle.
