It"s the chemistry staff"s job to provide a safe, clean, well-equipped lab. We"ll make sure that: you have what you need things are working properly the lab is clean. You have to make sure: it"s clean when you leave. Everybody works together to promote proper lab environment tell us when something is broken or not working properly. Ppe (personal protective equipment) - see the posters. Goggles, aprons & gloves: must wear them in lab & remove them whenever leaving, note the goggles cleaning station(helps prevent fogging too) Appropriate apparel: no open-toed shoes, bare shoulders or short-shorts, cover as much skin as possible. Clean labs are safe labs: clean up chemical spills(can cause harm to others) Report all injuries (burns, cuts, punctures, etc. : we have first aid trained staff, we"ll call ems or get you to health services as necessary. In case of calamity (fire, explosion, chemical spill) immediately get gsis attention. Be aware of allergic reactions & report to gsi.
