Reforms of diocletian (ruled 284-305) and constantine i (ruled 306[325]-337) Four emperors would rule at the same time. Divided the empire into the east and west. Agusti were the main emperor, their secondary emperor was. When the agusti died, the caesar took over and chose a new caesar.
