Stem Cells Have the potential to cure certain diseases (such as Parkinson’s/ALS/diabetes/Alzheimer’s) Prokaryotes vs. Eukaryote  Prokaryotes do not have a membrane bound nucleus while eukaryotes do  The vast majority of prokaryotes are unicellular while most eukaryotes are multi-cellular Embryonic stem cells: 1. Totipotent: can give rise to any type of tissue in the body including those cell types associated with the placenta. Has this ability only until the eight cell stage embryo. 2. Pluripotent: (After this eight cell stage) embryo will reorganize until the blastocyst 5 days. Found in the inner cell mass. Can give rise to any cell except for cells in the placenta. 3. Multipotent (not embryonic): Have the ability to give rise to multiple, but limited cell types. Embryonic stem cell research: 
