Humans have prehistory - they existed in ways other than civilizations as we do today (hobbes, locke philosophers that believe that there was another state of nature that humans were a part of) Theories of earth - mostly theories in line with the book of genesis (burnett, Earth was in a shell which broke, introduced the idea that earth could"ve changed over time) Meaning of fossils - concept of extinction, no body had the idea that they could be the remains of living things (steno, noticed that a type of rocks looked like shark"s teeth and realized that they were remains.
