Emphasis on evocation over narrative in experimental films. Music depleted the thought of it being experimental. Talks about how americans end up killing mother nature. Shows the end of the world storyline. Storyline includes two boys who are both in love with a woman but the woman (maddin) (2000) loves both of them backweird. Very cryptic and plays with the psyche. The other woman is just the grown version of the younger girl seen in the middle of the film. Deals with the complex issue of forced adoption, mother dying, etc. Based on the history that adoption agencies would pretty much assign children to adoption families, they wouldn"t really have a say in who they got to adopt. The singer"s role resembles an open interpretation--one thought is that he became a famous singer that became a product of the system . Playing on the thought of how australian culture must have been like back then.
