The earth is warming over the past 150 years and it has been scientifically proven. Start of season shifts in ma: herbarium records of plants acquired and dated during peak between 1885-2002. Flowering advanced an average of 8 days from early 1900s to late 1900s. Meta-analysis- a statistical analysis that combines the results of multiple scientific studies. Temperature and c02 are highly correlated in studies for global change. Greenhouse gases- gases which allow direct sunlight to reach the earths surface unimpeded. As short wave energy heats the surface, longer wave energy is reradiated to the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases absorb this energy, allowing less heat to escape back to space and trapping it in the lower atmosphere. Based on its molecular structure, each greenhouse gas has its particular effect on radiation emitted. The greenhouse effect- process by which radiation from a planets atmosphere warms the planets surface to a temp above what it would be without its atmosphere.
