Subpoena power: allow the court to compel information from the other side to level the playing field with access to information. Focus on the complaint, the summons, and the answer. If they do not have all of the complaints, will be dismissed. No evidence to show that you furnished the drink that the defendant was drinking. No evidence to support the allegation of furnishment. One witness who claims otherwise, we might have to go to trial. Voire dir: question the juror to challenge for cause or peremptory challenges (4) Can use for anything but race and gender. Challenge for cause: can show bias, you know that they are not going to be impartial. Natural law: following the spirit of the law. Law gets it authority from self evident truths that exist in nature.
