Document Summary

Indirect experiential learning: not all learning has to come from direct experience especially with humans, ex. Memory the process of observing and imitating a specific behavior: ex. kids copied adults when adults were shown beating up a bobo doll, encoding, storage, retrieval. Modal model of memory: sensory, short term, long term. Sensory memory: brief persistence of sensory memory, echoic memory- where auditory information is processed. How does it work: holds sensory info in its raw form so that it can be coded into some understandable means and transferred to stm. How much can be processed before gone: up to 9 pieces of information at a time. How fast information dissipates: very fast less that 3 seconds if not coded. Experiment: people flashed a matrix of letters and numbers, asked to report them after, could only remember 4-9 letters or numbers.
