Embo- wedge: normal blood clot ( thromboembolism, tissue fragment, air embolism. *** infarct- circumscribed portion of tissue which has been deprived of blood by embolism or thrombus, undergoes death (necrosis) and replaced by scar tissue. *** ischemia- condition where partial blockage of blood flow and where tissues due to lack of sufficient o2 are hurting and stressed but not dead as in necrosis. Stay in clot until signal converts it to plasmin. Continued clot causes endothelial cell to release enzyme (tissue plasminogen activator)- tpa tpa converts plasminogen to plasmin. Heparin - produced by mast cells/ basophils. Prostacyclin- produced by endothelium and certain wbcs. Nitric oxide - prevents platelet build up and vitamin k synthesis. Vitamin e- potent anticoagulant and strong inhibitor for vitamin k.
