Valve failure - increases plasma in coronary and affect lungs. Persistent high blood pressure - blood can"t push out when trying to leave left ventricle. Congestive heart failure brings about : poor circulation poor perfusion and poor oxygenation in tissues. Pulmonary edema affects left heart - pulmonary congestion. Expands dramatically b/c of pulmonary edema, no o2. Right heart- if weak - blood coming from svc can"t get into right atrium right ventricle can"t pump blood into lungs and causes back pressure causes systemic edema (dropsy) - peripheral edema. Exist in arteriole and venous walls tunica intima- inner layer: endothelial cells, scattered fibers, 1mm thick tunica media - middle layer: smooth muscle and elastic fiber contractility and elasticity innervated by nerves of nervous system. Maintain bp and circulation tunica externa (adventitia) - outer layer. Vasa vasorum- vessel of vessels thickest vessel. Pick up blood and travel through wall supplies oxygen from blood.
