Mechanical advantage
- Musculoskeletal system not designed well
The majority of joints are at disadvantage and cannot function well
- When joint moves, the insertion angle changes too
- this causes enables the muscle to move through the Range of Movement
around the joint
-person who has greater joint length from insertion can lift heavier weights but
loses movement speed
- Splits the person’s top and bottom halves
- aka leverage
- MA= ratio of muscle’s moment arm to resistive force moment arm
- Joints and muscles in body are 3rd class and less than 1
- MA less than 1 is not efficient
- To get more leverage means to increase joint and/or resistive force
- Varies by small amount in a joint, Mr depends on lever and exterior resistance
Resistance training of biomechanics
Musculoskeletal system
- Made up of bones, tendons and muscle to help people move
- Muscles act on bones and initiate joint movement
- Fibers can only contract
- Muscle origin- 1st attachment (arm attached to chest)
- Muscle insertion- 2nd attachment (finger attached to hand)
-
- Synergist- two + muscles used for movement
-
- Stabilizer- muscles that support body during movement
Agonist- muscles that help movement
Antagonists- muscles that do not generally help with movement
Anatomical planes Humans

Document Summary

The majority of joints are at disadvantage and cannot function well. When joint moves, the insertion angle changes too around the joint loses movement speed. This causes enables the muscle to move through the range of movement. Person who has greater joint length from insertion can lift heavier weights but. Splits the person"s top and bottom halves. Joints and muscles in body are 3rd class and less than 1. Ma= ratio of muscle"s moment arm to resistive force moment arm. Ma less than 1 is not efficient. To get more leverage means to increase joint and/or resistive force. Varies by small amount in a joint, mr depends on lever and exterior resistance. Made up of bones, tendons and muscle to help people move. Muscles act on bones and initiate joint movement. Muscle origin- 1st attachment (arm attached to chest) Muscle insertion- 2nd attachment (finger attached to hand) Synergist- two + muscles used for movement.
