Skeletal anatomy: occipital, parietal, frontal, temporal, mandible. Transillumination of the frontal sinuses: in a very dark room, shine a pen light behind the brow of the patient and you should be able to see the light coming through their skin since the sinuses are normally. Nose: inspect, symmetry, deformity, lesions, patency - air can travel through, no obstruction, edema/congestion. Turbinates: blood/injury, foreign body, turbinates, polyps (benign tumor, gray in color) - can cause less resonance in voice, sleep apnea, otoscope/ ophthalmoscope, rhinitis (usually pale) - swelling, exudate. Mouth and throat: inspect & palpate, lips, teeth, gums, tongue, buccal mucosa, note: White/yellow covering on the tongue - see if it is scrapable or not with tongue depressor: oral health mirrors overall health, some diseases start with oral s/sx, some diseases can hurt oral health. !2: some treatments fro chronic illness can harm the mouth.
