Lots of warning that things had happened inside the past, scheduled evacuation but cancelled it. Had two hours of warning, if lahar warning system could have been in place it could have helped, lots of warning. Event that bothered us geologists because their predictions of lahars were right on. Traps water and air so it acts as a flow with any sort of slope. Earthquake generated glacier to break and then avalanche. There is not that much that you can do for debris avalanches.
