Shapes of Distribution
• Normal curve (this is what is ideal)
o Can statistically correct data to make it normally distributed
• Positive skew: when a few high scores occur increase the overall score
• Negative skew: when a few low scores occur they decrease the average score
• Degree of variability of the scores; how much participants vary from each
Should use median instead of mean when the data is highly skewed
Number of participants in a study is typically referred to as "n"
