Cohesive forces- various imfs between molecules of a substance. Capillary action-when molecules creep- cohesion holds these molecules together (against gravity) Vapor pressure is determined by imfs and temperature- for a liquid- only temperature determines vapor pressure. Net dipole movement exists in substances that are polar. Relate how viscosity for car oil is during summer and winter seasons. Vaporization-liquid to gas and condensation-gas to liquid- dynamic equilibrium when they are equal to one another. Stronger imf means vapor pressure lowest meaning that vaporization rate is slowest. The normal boiling point= boiling point when pressure = 1 atm.
