Industrial revolution spread all over the west and changed traditional patterns of society. First major renovation was the railroad in the 1830s between liverpool and manchester. Shrunken even more by the creation of telegram. In 1834- german states made up a union to lower tariffs with each other more cheaply. Made possible to provide more stuff to more people more cheaply. Leading state was prussia, and prussian influence increased. Austria refused to join (thought it was a bad idea) Less formal and more flexible than congress of vienna. 1820s- a lot of supporters of revolution who lamented the fact that the country was a monarchy. King charles x fired the legislator (balanced out monarchy and republic) and set strict censorship. Caused crowds to protest and form militia called a national guard. Took over the city in 4 days and started a new revolution but they learned from 1779. They invited a cousin of charles x to be new king-louis.
