Know the basic statistic regarding the growth or decline of cable viewership, newspaper readership, local news viewership, and digital news web traffic as told by the pew research center"s state of the news media 2016 report. Cable viewership: +8% (increased interest b/c election year) Newspaper readership: -7% on weekdays; -4% on sunday. Local news viewership: -5% late night news viewership, -2% morning/ early evening viewership. Digital news web traffic: no clear statistical trend b/c wide expanse of internet; 38% of adults say they get a lot of their news from digital sources. Digital advertising is now being shown on mobile devices much more, but journalists are not reaping the benefits.
