However, in more recent times there has been a lot of tension between the us and the eu, mainly because of trade issues and transatlantic politics. The european union dates back very closely to post world war ii era. The eu is a relatively young political body, so many of the policies and basic procedures aren"t set in stone. They are still figuring out where they stand in world politics, and there isn"t a clear place just yet. Currently the eu is struggling with a currency crisis the euro has been in trouble for a couple of years now.
