Cognitive psychologist: person hears alarm and presses button, are there things that make the person press it faster or slower, is the alarm a cue for them to think about their day, etc. Cognitive neuroscientist: how does brain physiology allow for the processing of the alarm and the retrieval of the days goals. Allows us to ask different questions and seek different types of answers. Primarily how does the brain or nervous system give rise to cognition. Technological advances have allowed for the ability to ask these questions in a safe way. Level of analysis: analyze the behavior associated with interacting with alarm. Rt, remembering to set it, remembering what to do after it goes off: measure physiological processes associated with hearing and responding to alarm.
