Behavioral genetics- the study of how our genetics and our environment combine to make our personality. There are three different genotypes: found that there was only an increase in clinical depression only in the boys that had mother rejection and genotype 3. This means that boys in study that had genotype 3 were more likely to be clinically depressed. Personality is a combination of both genetic, cultural, familial, and idiosyncratic learning experiences (experiences unique to you) Genes and environment can work separately, together, or influence each other. Genotype-environment interaction- certain environments have different effects on people depending on their specific genotype: ex: the haeffel study of russian boys. Genotype-environment correlation- may be impossible to separate the effects of genes from the environment: don"t nessicerry know which way it interacts where genotype- environment interaction you know it was that specific genotype. Phenotype- what the heredity produces: what we see as a result.
