PSY 247 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Thematic Apperception Test, Pejorative
Document Summary
Assessments: ex: functioning tests, etc, assessments allow us to know what the problem is to help them which helps us reach a diagnosis. However once we reach a diagnosis we want to know the difficulties to that specific person because the disorder might not be the same in everyone. Ex: depression for one person might sleep more, another person might eat more. The reason we do assessments is because we are trying to figure out how to help people. We view assessments like a funnel: funnel analogy- start broad and then narrow in on diagnosis. Examples of questions you might ask in this clinical interview: Family history (genetic wise and personal relationships) Love life (is there one, how is it going) Want to know current and past behavior, attitudes, emotions of patient. Want to know detailed history because it helps us understand the person more.
