Document Summary

Geography- where things are located on the earth"s surface and the reasons for that location and people"s responses to this: ex: climate (beautiful beaches but if it is colder people won"t be there for leisure) Basic concepts of the geography of leisure: space. Things to consider when leisure is a space: Crowding: people don"t like crowding in nature, can be defined differently, depends on the activity you are doing and the people"s experience. Social inclusion: we get irritated by people doing different things than you. Ex: you are canoeing but you get upset with people who are motor boating or skiing. Special significance of locale or feature (doesn"t have to be a religious place specficially) Cultural instruction: ex: religion, heritage, nationality. Smells: smellscape- smells are place related. People have a really strong relationship with smells. Place attachment: through smells, sounds, etc, we experience peak moments.
