Program and event planning: tips and traditions w/ dr. shelly myers (guest speaker) Tips for entering rec: 1) never let them see you sweat. Ex: myers having to tell hockey players that they had an illegal player so they would have to forfeit because not enough players: 2) be prepared. When you are prepared for an event you are less likely to be nervous or anxious when something pops up. Ex: what will you do if the band is running an hour late? . Ex: only had ten people show up for an event and had to shrink venue: 3) do something crazy, creative, and unique. But it is important to have the tradition if there is one: 4) use a theme, logo, or mascot. Try to focus event on theme or mascot. Makes it more fun: 5) use available human resources and talent, ex: base dance off of colors or slogan.
