Document Summary

Every play has scenery and design, laugh in their face if they say there is none. No scenery = you standing/sitting on bare stage, being quiet, naked. Some of the responsibility in design overlap sometimes. Scenery tells the audience the story of the show or character(s) in the quickest way: ex: we can tell a character"s social class by the way they dress or what the set portrays. Designers are creating mood and atmosphere: want to give: Ex: character wearing a huge coat we can assume it is cold or winter time. Scenic designers (aka set designer) sets the design style and is the head of designing for the show: works with other designers and director. All the designers work together to make sure the show looks the best it can be: dictates the movement on stage along with the costume designers. Ex: put males in pencil skirts and 4 heels = limited movements for the actors.
