When making a mask you have to look at the character wearing the mask. Masks are a grey area of responsibility (changes with every production: can be wore like a costume costuming, or can just be hanging on a wall or used by an actor props. Types of masks: carnival mask have a feather head dress. Ex: carnival in brazil: festival mask half mask. Ex: mardi gras, a masquerade ball: phantom mask half face vertically kind of. Ex: the phantom"s mask in phantom of the opera: domino mask. When making a mask for an actor keep in mind: need to be able to breath, need to be able to see safely. Making the actor uncomfortable might ruin their performance.
