THR 306 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Light Plot, Street Light
Document Summary
Lighting changes drastically if the set changes throughout the show: complicated the light plot = more fixtures. Lighting designer does a script analysis of the script and the characters they are lighting: when doing a script analysis read it as an audience would first look at it. Write down everything you felt and your reactions to the story. Don"t want to become numb to the show: want lighting to be unique, look for. Mood: everything in the script is a character and has a personality. Everything done in lighting is a choice. If something is in the dialogue you need it. Don"t look at the notes in the back of the script because commercial scripts suck because sometimes it won"t match with what the script originally was suppose to show. Each state has different lighting and stage rules because of fire laws and other laws for the state.
