Goals : give you some general organizational methods that can be used to give clinicians an overview of the speech sound problems noted on the articulation test and spontaneous speech sample. Nature of problem tends to be phonetic (articulatory) rather than phonological. Position in which the sounds are misarticulated: initial, medial, final. Type of errors made: omissions, distortions, additions, substitutions. Problems with transitions ddks and real words. Description of types of errors - compare singletons versus consonant clusters, monosyllables versus polysyllables and single word versus connected speech. Prosody includes stress, rhythm, intonation, and lexical and grammatical tones. Prosody can either directly affect the meaning or it can add information to a word or phrase (peppe, 2009). One aspect of prosody that has diagnostic significance is lexical stress (ballard, dja ja, arciuli, Accuracy of lexical stress can be measured in familiar polysyllabic words commencing with strong-weak (e. g. , elephant) and weak-strong (e. g. , computer) stress patterns .
