The kithara was the predecessor to the guitar, it was played by apollo. Poetry and song were connected to the god. Here they would pray to apollo and spend the night in somewhat of a healing ritual. Apollo : the prophet, medicine man, music man, young man. The name delphi means womb of the earth and is in the mountains. The oracle is the priestess of apollo, she sat in a cave in delphi. In order to speak to her, a man must follow a series of rules and precautions. This meant it could not have any obvious blemishes. Also, a fee must be paid which would be decided according to what could be afforded. The person who wishes to speak to the oracle must be pure. This specifically means that they haven"t murdered anyone.
