The characters are so unable to comprehend evil because they have such a structured and protected life (they are blind to the evil around them) Animals call uncle andrew the neevil because they can not understand the concept of evil. When she eats something she knows that she has gotten what she wants and is very happy, but because of the stain you can see that it ended up having lasting negative implications. Sexual shame is the first sign of evil and discomfort in this novel which is clearly not appropriate for children. To be a good king means that you are there for your people and that you lead your battle.
