Gaslight increased illumination, had better control of intensity, but still had wavering ames. 1881: electric lighting rst used in the savoy theatre in london. Using theatre as a means of investigating social conditions; looking at characters from a psychological perspective. Result of theories of social darwinism and sigmund freud.
